by Wayne | July 17th, 2007

Bristol

Situated in South West England between Somerset and Gloucestershire, through which the rivers Avon and Frome run through, Bristol is the United Kingdom’s ninth most populous city. The city’s prosperous economy owes its existence to the Port of Bristol, British Aerospace industry, Rolls-Royce and its ship-building industry.

Bristol has a population of 400,000, comprising ethnic groups such as English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Ulster, West Indians, Indians, Pakistanis, and others. Though Bristol has a comparatively moderate climate, it is also one of the warmest and sunniest cities in the United Kingdom. in Europe
by Wayne | July 12th, 2007

Bourgas, Bugaria

Bulgaria has fast become a favourite holiday destination with British holidaymakers; and with pristine ski resorts, beautiful beaches and low prices that undercut Western Europe, it’s easy to see why. Sofia, the country’s capital and Bansko, its premier ski resort, have been particularly big winners in the tourism game, attracting a large share of international travellers. But there are many other less known spots which are worth a visit.

The coastal city of Bourgas, for example, has often been overlooked and dismissed by tourists as being over-industrialised - and it makes sense as to why. Situated on the coast of the Black Sea, Bourgas is the fourth largest city in the country and a major economic and cultural centre. However, there are beautiful beaches within the city itself and it’s a major starting point for those who want to visit other seaside resorts in the area, such as Slantchev Bryag and Elenite Village to the north and Duni Village in the south. These areas are heavily geared towards tourism, offering the choice of some 90 hotels and 17 camp sites and drawing about 2.5 million foreign and domestic tourists every year. …read full articles of "Bourgas, Bulgaria - the Black Sea’s forgotten city"

York

Often described as the “last English city”, York is one of Britain’s most beautiful and historic towns, popular with tourists from around the country and overseas. Located in North Yorkshire, at the intersection of the Rivers Ouse and Foss, the City of York is traditionally located in a small area contained within the city walls, with the surrounding areas known as the Ainstay. The modern city of York, however, is much larger and contains many historic sites that are sure to interest visitors of all ages.
